Spring Break Safety Tips 2020

It’s that time of year when college students are off to their spring break destinations! Whether you’ve booked cheap international flights to a destination such as Cancun, Mexico or Paris, France there are different levels of safety concerns to be mindful. Obviously, taking a trip to Cancun to party like a rockstar has a significantly different level of safety concern in comparison to studying and touring around Paris. While these two types of trips are very different, there are still a number of safety tips to keep in mind. Before you board your flights for an epic spring break, read these helpful tips that will keep you safe and sound while away from home.

Stay Aware Of Your Surroundings

You’ve probably heard this safety tip time and time again, but it’s one of the most important. Even if you’re traveling with a group of friends, you should always be aware of your surroundings. It’s easy for locals to spot tourists, especially when in a different country where English is not the native language. To stay safe, always keep your drinks covered and use the buddy system. A bar, club, beach, it doesn’t matter — you never know who has dangerous intentions and distracted tourists are the easiest targets. Always stick with a friend to avoid traveling around a foreign town or city alone, because even something as little as going to the bathroom alone can be dangerous.

Know The Details Of Where You Are Staying

Prior to leaving home do some research on the safety of your destination and resort. It’s easy to book a trip to anywhere in the world, but are you certain it’s a safe destination for you to travel to for spring break? To be cautious, search the web to find out if there are high crime rates around the place you’d like to stay. If the purpose of your spring break trip is to party, know the law of the tolerance the country or city has for drinking and partying. Spring break is meant to be fun and enjoyable, but be careful not to push the limit; you never want to end up in a bad situation with the law especially when on spring break.

Do Not Disconnect

Most travelers become excited about booking cheap international flights not only because of the low fares but because of the opportunity to disconnect with everyday life at home. While this is a positive of traveling, you should never totally disconnect yourself. Before you leave, pack a portable charger to keep your cell phone charged and don’t forget to pack a phone charger! We’re not suggesting being glued to your cell phone during your trip; we’re encouraging you to keep it on your person in case of an emergency. Speaking of an emergency, know what number to call for fire, medical, or police assistance — 911 isn’t universal.
